FIA arrests suspect involved illegal currency exchange, over Rs10.1m recovered

LAHORE, Feb 28 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle Lahore has arrested a suspect involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchange operations,recovering more than Rs10.1 million in cash during a raid conducted on Bedian road,on Saturday.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the accused,identified as Asif Khan was apprehended in a crackdown against illegal financial activities.
A team of the Corporate Crime Circle Lahore carried out a raid at the suspect’s premises on Bedian road,resulting in his arrest.
The spokesperson said that a total of Rs10.1 million was recovered from the possession of the accused.
In addition to cash,officials also seized a mobile phone and documentary evidence linked to hawala/hundi transactions and illegal currency exchange activities.
The arrested suspect has been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated to trace the network and identify other individuals involved in the illegal business,the spokesperson added.
