FIA Anti-Corruption Circle arrests three more in SEC pension fund fraud

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has arrested three more accused involved in the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) Management Pension Fund fraud case.
A FIA official told APP on Thursday that the arrested accused were identified as Muhammad Mateen, Arshad Mahmood and Hammad Basharat.
He said the arrests were made after the Special Judge Central-II Islamabad rejected the pre-arrest bail of the accused. Following the court’s orders, FIA teams took the suspects into custody.
According to the official , the accused allegedly embezzled over Rs 46.1 million from the SEC Management Pension Fund’s pension bank account by using fake and bogus cheques.
He added that the accused have been arrested and investigation has been formally initiated to ascertain the full scope of the fraud and identify other possible facilitators involved in the case.
The FIA reiterated that strict legal action would be taken against all those involved in corruption and financial crimes, in accordance with the law.
