FAISALABAD, Sep 15 (APP):Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faisalabad Electric Supply (FESCO) Engineer Muhammad Aamir
said the FESCO had decided to install an Advanced Power Monitoring System (APMS) on 11-KV
feeders across seven sub-divisions to obtain comprehensive real-time data, pinpoint the causes of
power losses and crackdown on electricity theft and illegal or unregistered connections.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said that this initiative was aimed at strengthening monitoring of
the distribution network and enabling FESCO to take targeted measures for reducing feeder losses
on the basis of accurate and comprehensive data generated through the
advanced system.
He said that the APMS installation formed part of a comprehensive strategy to bring greater transparency
and efficiency to the electricity transmission and distribution system, improve monitoring and
reduce line losses.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure GIS mapping of all relevant transformers of 11 feeders
in seven subdivisions, recording of their geographical coordinates and tagging of every consumer
or connection linked with each transformer.
He also instructed that the information should be reconciled with records available on the relevant portal.
Engineer Muhammad Aamir ordered immediate identification and rectification of any discrepancy
or untagged connection detected during the process and said that accurate data was imperative
for effective monitoring and control of the distribution network.
The APMS is being installed on Muslim Town feeder of Muslim Town Sub Division, Sahiwal Road feeder of Chenab Nagar Sub Division, Jhang Road feeder of City Lalian Sub Division, Scarp feeder of Shorkot Rural Sub Division, Moazzamabad feeder of Kot Momin Sub Division, Akrianwala and Kallur Kot City feeders of Kallur Kot Sub Division, Jajjanwala and Khawaja Shah feeders of Rural Kamalia Sub Division and Addha Pull and Murad Shah feeders of Gojra Rural Sub Division, he added.
The FESCO chief said that GIS mapping would make it possible to identify specific areas or transformers where losses were unusually high and determine the reasons behind them.
It would also facilitate the detection of overloaded transformers, unbalanced loads, technical faults, unregistered connections, electricity theft and other irregularities, he added.
