Federal Ombudsman provides Rs 1.5m relief to Mepco consumers

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 16 (APP):The Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman’s Office in Dera Ghazi Khan, Muhammad Sohaib, heard 110 cases related to the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) and provided relief worth around Rs1.5 million to complainants.
Acting on the directives of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Muhammad Sohaib personally reviewed complaints during the hearing session held at the DG Khan office, says an official release issued here Thursday. He instructed officials of various federal departments to resolve public grievances promptly and ensure fair relief. In several cases, penalties imposed on consumers under unjustified billing were ordered to be withdrawn.
Complainants unable to appear in person, were heard via telephone calls, ensuring that no case remained unattended.
Speaking to media representatives, Muhammad Sohaib reaffirmed the Ombudsman’s commitment to providing swift and merit-based justice to citizens without fear or influence. People should not hesitate to lodge complaints against any federal department. We are here to ensure justice without delay or discrimination, he added.
He emphasized that under the leadership of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, efforts are being intensified to resolve public grievances and deliver justice within 60 days, without any fee or legal representation. He added that in these challenging times, citizens are receiving justice without bribery or favoritism, which reflects the Ombudsman’s mission of transparency and accountability.
Complainants expressed their gratitude to the Federal Ombudsman Office as the “court of the common man, where genuine grievances are addressed swiftly and fairly.
