Federal govt wants no child to be deprived of education due to poverty: Minister

PESHAWAR, Jul 24 (APP):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah here Thursday reiterated that the federal government wants no child to be deprived of education due to poverty.
The Federal Minister expressed these views during his visit to Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal office Peshawar.
Director, Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lal Badshah, briefed the Federal Minister about his department’s initiatives and projects.
He informed the minister said Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was providing scholarships for the education of child laborers. Training centers have also been established for underprivileged women.
While appreciating the initiatives taken by Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said Federal Govt has launched results oriented projects for poor and deserving widows and children to make them into national mainstream.
“We are providing scholarships to poor children for continuity of their education,” said the Federal Minister, adding Federal Govt wanted no student or child to be deprived of education due to poverty and lack of jobs of parents.
The Minister was told that there are 30 training centers operating under Bait-ul-Mal across all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These centers are teaching underprivileged and deserving women various skills and provide them vocational training to take them out of poverty.
In addition to embroidery, IT education is also being provided at these centers. Eight orphanages are being run under Bait-ul-Mal in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and around 800 boys and girls are residing in these orphanages.
These orphan children are being educated up to matriculation (10th grade) and that each of these orphanages is equipped with 16 CCTV cameras.
The Minister was further informed that monitoring of each orphanage is being conducted through these cameras. “The funds we receive for the sake of pleasing Allah Almighty should be used in the right place,” said Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmad Shah.
The federal government was taking special steps to eliminate poverty,” the Minister stated while addressing the meeting participants.
“The government wants to empower poor children and widows through education and skill development,” said the Federal Minister, adding “I will not tolerate any corruption in the funds provided by the government for the welfare of the poor and orphaned children.”
“Bait-ul-Mal also provides financial assistance to disabled individuals, along with the poor, orphans, and widows,” added the Federal Minister.
He said federal government will prioritize resolving the issues faced by the staff of Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hinted to recruit new people to fill the vacant positions in Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Imran Ahmad Shah said work was ongoing to resolve the internet issues faced by Bait-ul-Mal offices in relation to data sharing, and this issue will also be resolved soon. He said shortage of vehicles of Bait-ul-Mal will also be addressed.
