PESHAWAR, Feb 10 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Ameer Muqam, said here Tuesday that investing in youth is the best and most profitable investment, and that young people need opportunities rather than hallow slogans.
“Through the landmark Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, thousands of capable and hardworking students across Pakistan are being aligned with the requirements of the digital age,” Engr Amir Muqam said while addressing, as chief guest, a ceremony for the distribution of laptops among students under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at the University of Agriculture Peshawar.
In his key note address, Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam said that he felt great happiness and pride to be present among the students and faculty at this great educational institution, the University of Agriculture Peshawar.
He said that the university is a shining center of knowledge, research, and practical training, which is not only aligning the agriculture sector with modern requirements but is also playing an important role in national food security and rural development, leading youth toward a bright future.
Today, under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, laptops are being distributed among 635 deserving and talented male and female students.
“This is not merely the distribution of laptops rather, it is an investment in Pakistan’s future,” he said.
Engineer Ameer Muqam said that youth are the greatest asset of the nation, adding the government firmly believes that youth are both our present and our future, therefore, the top priority of the government is the development, education, and economic empowerment of youth.
Spending on youth, he emphasized, is not an expense but the best and most profitable investment.
Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam said that these laptops are not just devices in students’ hands, but keys to opportunities and employment.
They will connect students to online education, digital skills, research, modern agriculture, and global markets. Through the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2026, thousands of capable and hardworking students across Pakistan, including KP are being equipped to meet the demands of the digital era.
Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, education, technology, and merit are being turned from mere slogans into practical strength in order to build a strong, capable, and self-reliant Pakistan.
The Federal Minister paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, whose vision is to connect youth with education, provide them access to technology, and make them an active part of national development.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly believes that when youth are empowered, Pakistan will automatically become stronger.
Engineer Ameer Muqam further said that when Pakistan recently faced external aggression and pressure, Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir led the nation as a great, dignified, and courageous leader. His wise strategy, military insight, and unwavering commitment to national honour will always be remembered in history in golden words.
He paid tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan, who know how to defend Pakistan on every front.
The Minister said that the federal government is creating opportunities for youth through laptop schemes, scholarships, skill development, and employment initiatives. He expressed the desire that the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should follow the federal government’s example and launch similar practical and positive programs for youth.
Unfortunately, he said, valuable time in the province is being wasted on sit-ins, protests, and purposeless politics.
Protests, he added, have provided neither jobs, nor education, nor development for youth. “Young people need opportunities, not slogans.”
Addressing the students, he said that these laptops are both a test and an opportunity for them. They should be used for positive purposes to gain knowledge, conduct research, and bring pride to Pakistan. He said that the nation is proud of them, hopeful from them, and confident that they are the bright future of Pakistan.
Earlier, upon the arrival of Federal Minister Engineer Ameer Muqam at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar, he was given a warm welcome. The Vice Chancellor, faculty members, and senior administrative officials received him.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor gave a detailed briefing on the university’s academic, research, and development activities, highlighting agricultural research, the use of modern technology, student training, faculty performance, and future plans.
Praising the role of the University of Agriculture Peshawar, the Federal Minister said that educational and research institutions serve as the backbone of agricultural sector development. He assured full cooperation for the promotion of agricultural education and research.
