Fake pesticides worth Rs 10.8m seized

MULTAN, Jan 18 (APP):The Agriculture Department’s Pest Warning team seized 3,540 litres of fake agricultural pesticides worth Rs 10.836 million during a raid on an unregistered factory in the Industrial Estate area of Multan.
Led by Pest Warning Directors Dr Ghulam Abbas and Ilyas Raza Kalachi, the operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect, Hammad Ahsan, and confiscation of counterfeit pesticides, packaging materials, sealing machines, printed labels, and empty drums.
The suspect was found mixing fake pesticides and selling them under the labels of various companies. All seized items have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The raid was conducted in violation of multiple sections of the Agriculture Pesticides Ordinance, including Rule 15 for mislabeling and Rule 9 for operating an unregistered factory. A case has been registered against the factory owner, Tanveer Akbar, Hammad Ahsan, and others at Muzaffarabad Police Station.
Similarly, 15 pesticide samples have been sent to the laboratory for analysis. A spokesperson for the Agriculture Department emphasized their zero-tolerance policy against adulteration in agricultural inputs.
