FAISALABAD, Nov 21 (APP):Faisalabad has braced for a crucial electoral contest as polling for five constituencies including 2 National Assembly and 3 Provincial Assembly seats will be held here on Sunday (November 23, 2025) and the Election Commission of Pakistan has completed all necessary arrangements for by-elections and the political field set for intense competition.
The by-elections in NA-96, NA-104, PP-98, PP-115 and PP-116 are expected to draw significant voter turnout as political parties and independent candidates will vie for the seats.
Polling in NA-96 Jaranwala-II features 16 candidates including Muhammad Bilal Badar of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He is brother of Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry and contesting by-election on the ‘Tiger’ symbol.
According to Form-33 and related details issued by the Returning Officer, 15 independent candidates are also in the race.
The constituency NA-96 has 587,124 registered voters including 314,133 men and 272,991 women while 1,057 voters have been transferred, 345 excluded and 98 newly registered.
Total 345 polling stations have been set up including 125 for men, 122 for women and 98 combined polling stations, collectively offering 1,057 polling booths.
Rauf Ahmed has been appointed Returning Officer with Aurangzeb Goraya and Noor-ul-Hassan serving as Assistant Returning Officers in this constituency.
In NA-104, five candidates will contest the by-election while PML-N nominee Daniyal Ahmed son of Raja Riaz Ahmed will test his luck on the ‘Tiger’ symbol.
Independent contenders include Rana Adnan Javed (Persian Wheel), Shakeel Hussain (Stethoscope), Soba Khan SK Aamir Chadhar (Rabab) and Waheed Ahmed (Stabilizer).
The constituency comprises localities such as Gulistan Colony, New Civil Lines, Islam Nagar, Hajjiabad, Nighaban Pura, Ghaziabad, Tariqabad, Chak No.201-RB, Chak No.120-JB, Chak No.123-JB and adjoining areas.
NA-104 hosts 557,637 registered voters including 292,108 men and 265,529 women. It features 196 polling stations with 1,097 booths including 575 for men, 522 for women and nine combined.
The by-election in PP-98 Faisalabad-I includes 10 candidates, with PML-N’s Azad Ali Tabassum (Tiger) leading the contest. Independents include Asif Shehzad Tabassum (Air Cooler), Sher Afghan (Water Tank), Tahira Ahmed (Drum), Faraz Anees (Water Cooler), Qamar Mahmood (Table), Muhammad Ajmal (Charpai), Muhammad Aamir Nawaz (Baby Cot), Waseem Akram (Hukkah) and Waseem-ul-Hassan (Bed).
The constituency covering Tehsil Chak Jhumra, Chak No. 197-RB Gattwala, Faisalabad Saddar and surrounding areas has 289,690 registered voters comprising 155,901 men and 133,789 women.
Total 171 polling stations including 53 for men, 49 for women and 69 combined polling stations will operate with 548 polling booths.
In PP-115 Faisalabad, five candidates are in the field, led by PML-N’s Muhammad Tahir Pervaiz (Tiger). Independent candidates include Ahmed Tariq Cheema (Bottle), Sohail Kashif of Awami Justice Party Pakistan (Tumbler), Shafqat Rasool (Racket) and Muhammad Asghar (Shuttle Cock).
The constituency covers Warispura, Barkatpura, Chak No.224-RB, Chak No.235-RB, Chak No.225-RB Malkhanwala, Muhammad Nagar, Chishtia Town, Fatehabad, D-Type Colony, Shadi Pura, Allama Iqbal Colony, Sohailabad, Coca-Cola Factory area and adjoining localities.
It includes 234,255 registered voters including 124,043 men and 110,212 women while 159 polling stations will offer 437 booths.
The PP-116 Faisalabad by-election features 7 candidates, headed by PML-N’s Rana Ahmed Shehryar Khan (Tiger). Other contestants include Asghar Ali Qaiser (Drum), Iqra Sana (Door), Bilal Hassan (Railway Engine), Khawaja Asad Ijaz (Racket), Sarmad Fazal Hussain Rahi (Radio) and Abdul Rasheed (Printer).
Comprising predominantly urban neighborhoods such as Clock Tower bazaars, Santpura, Amin Town, Jawala Nagar, Samanabad, Bilal Ganj, Nisar Colony, Nizamabad, Firdous Colony, Chak No.222-RB Mazaffar Colony, Nawabanwala, Dijkot Road, Factory Area, Lal Mill locality and Masoodabad, this constituency has 276,280 registered voters including 145,927 men and 130,353 women with 190 polling stations and 544 booths.
The polling across all five constituencies will be held on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The district administration has designated Municipal Committee Jaranwala as the central control point for NA-96 while the Election Commission has published complete polling station lists on its official website.
The authorities have expressed confidence in the arrangements and assured that sufficient security and administrative measures are in place to ensure smooth and peaceful voting in fair, free and transparent manner.
