RAJANPUR, Jul 23 (APP):The Punjab Irrigation Department on Tuesday briefed the district administration and local parliamentarians on the feasibility study for construction of three dams aimed at making hill torrent water usable for irrigation.
The briefing session was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, and parliamentarians Sardar Dr. Hafeez Rehman Khan Dareshak, Sardar Shamsheer Khan Mazari, Sardar Abdul Aziz Khan Drishak, Sardar Khizr Khan Mazari, and Shiraz Khan Gorchani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Muhammad Fahad Baloch, Chief Engineer Rao Kashif, Faisal Rasheed, Muhammad Afzal, Mujahid Kaleem, and other officials.
During the session, Chief Engineer Rao Kashif described the detailed feasibility of Miranj Dam, Kaha Dam, and Chachhar Dam. He discussed the management of hill torrents and governmental measures to utilize the water for agricultural purposes.
The parliamentarians stressed that the safety of people’s lives and property should be the top priority. They called for the complete restoration of natural paths for hill torrents until the dams are constructed. They maintained that these measures would soon irrigate barren lands and provide relief from flooding.
