Event held to mark Int’l Day for Biological Diversity

BAHAWALPUR, Jun 03 (APP):An event to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity was held Islamia University of Bahawalpur on Tuesday under the auspices of its Biodiversity Park.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran presided over the event. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the vital role of University Biodiversity Park Fort Darrar in conserving the unique ecosystems of Cholistan Desert and contributing to environmental sustainability.
Prof Dr Kamran praised the park’s efforts to advance national and international biodiversity goals. He highlighted that this year’s theme, “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development,” underscores the critical interconnectedness between humans and the natural world, emphasizing sustainable development.
Director of the Biodiversity Park Dr. Muhammad Abdullah presented a comprehensive report on the park’s annual progress and outlined ongoing initiatives to protect and promote biodiversity within the desert region.
During the event, the Vice Chancellor awarded certificates of appreciation to the members of Green Youth Movement Club in recognition of their dedicated efforts towards environmental protection and awareness.
The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of biodiversity conservation, inspiring continued commitment to safeguarding our natural heritage.
