LAHORE, Jan 16 (APP):Punjab Excise and Taxation Department (E&T), during its ongoing operation against unregistered vehicles, set up over 649 checkpoints across various divisions and inspected a total of 119,428 vehicles so far this January.
According to official reports, 3,433 unregistered vehicles have been impounded, while Rs 133 million rupees have been collected from over 13,388 token tax defaulters through on-the-spot recoveries. Additionally, 6,323 fake number plates have been seized during the crackdown.
The E&T authorities vowed to continue and intensify the operation, urging vehicle owners to register their vehicles and pay the due token taxes. Unregistered vehicles would not be allowed on the roads, and defaulters would face increased fines and legal action.
Secretary E&T, Masood Mukhtar and Director General Umar Sheer Chatha emphasized their commitment to strict enforcement and ensuring compliance with vehicle registration and tax laws.
