LAHORE, Oct 20 (APP):The Punjab government has decided to restructure the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a significant move aimed at enhancing service delivery and strengthening the province’s environmental governance framework.
During a recent meeting, the Punjab cabinet formally approved the merger of the Environmental Monitoring Center with the EPA. According to official sources, this restructuring is designed to ensure the more effective use of environmental monitoring and data, thereby boosting the agency’s overall performance.
Officials further clarified that no additional financial resources will be required for the merger, making it a cost-effective reform. This strategic decision is viewed as an important step toward modernizing Punjab’s environmental protection system and aligning it with contemporary monitoring and regulatory standards.
The merger is expected to improve data-driven decision-making, facilitate timely interventions, and ensure better coordination across environmental initiatives in the province.
