SARGODHA, Sep 30 (APP):The Environment Protection Department (EPD) conducted 374 anti-smog inspections across the district during September as part of its zero-tolerance campaign against air pollution and environmental violations.
According to a spokesperson, Deputy Director Environment Muhammad Rana stated that strict legal action was being taken across the board against industrial and commercial units violating environmental laws to curb smog.
He informed that departmental teams inspected brick kilns, stone crushers, and industrial units throughout the month to monitor emission sources and enforce government measures against environmental degradation.
During the operations, 23 stone-crushing units were sealed for violating anti-smog regulations, while five brick kilns were sealed and 10 others demolished for non-compliance.
The Deputy Director further disclosed that a total of Rs2.5 million in fines was imposed on the violating units, and the entire amount had been recovered.
Reaffirming the department’s resolve to ensure a clean environment, he warned that no concession would be given to violators and strict action under the law would continue without discrimination.
