CHINIOT, Oct 17 (APP):The Environment Department Chiniot has launched a stringent campaign against brick kilns and industrial units causing environmental pollution and exacerbating smog in the district, the local correspondent of APP reported this from Chiniot on Friday.
According to the details, under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal, teams have been conducting raids, sealing and fining violators. Deputy Director Environmental Protection Dr. Hina confirmed that a brick kiln in Tehsil Lalian was sealed for failing to adopt zigzag technology and violating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
An FIR has been registered against another brick kiln for serious environmental law violations. Similarly, an industrial unit in Chiniot Tehsil was fined Rs. 100,000 for causing environmental pollution.
On this occasion, Dr. Hina while exclusively talking to APP, emphasized that the Environment Department Chiniot will continue to take day and night action across the district to ensure the implementation of the Punjab government’s anti-smog vision. A zero-tolerance policy will be strictly enforced against violators to provide a clean and healthy environment for citizens, she further added.
