PESHAWAR, Jul 07 (APP):Following the Swat tragedy, a large-scale anti-encroachment operation is underway in the Malakand Division, revealing that over 700 kanals of land have been illegally occupied across the region.
According to official sources on Monday, a detailed report of the ongoing operation has been submitted to the provincial government. The report discloses that 501 kanals of land across six districts of Malakand Division and 203 kanals in Swat have been encroached upon.
During the anti-encroachment operation in Malakand Division, 61 buildings have been sealed. In Swat, one building was sealed while illegal structures on more than 20 kanals were demolished.
Out of the 203 kanals of encroached land in Swat, 78 kanals have been cleared. Demarcation has been carried out over 8 kilometers in Swat alone.
The report further said tht in Bajaur 15 buildings sealed while in Buner, 9 buildings sealed and in Lower Dir 22 buildings were sealed.
Furthermore, in Upper Dir 10 buildings sealed and in Malakand, 4 buildings were sealed. In total, illegal constructions on over 75 kanals have been demolished across the division.
The report further revealed that encroachments from 162 kanals were removed and land demarcation was done over115 kilometers, besides, 54 sites fenced off to prevent future encroachments.
Commissioner Malakand Division, Abid Wazir, in a statement said that the anti-encroachment operations are being conducted without any discrimination. He added that the Chief Minister has issued strict orders to ensure no leniency is shown in these actions.
