RAWALPINDI, Jun 11 (APP):Government employees have welcomed the government’s decision to increase salaries by 10 percent in the budget 2025-26.
Several employees shared their reactions with the APP on Wednesday, acknowledging the relief while calling for further revisions.
Naeem Ahmad, an officer in a public sector organization described the salary increase as a much-needed measure.
“It will ease financial pressures on low- and middle-grade employees”, he said.
He observed that the 10 percent would certainly help to some extent. However
Abid Mahmood, another Govt employee said that the dual benefit of salary increases and reduced income tax slabs will draw a collective impact. He highlighted that the government’s decision to reduce income tax rates for middle-income earners would increase the buying power.
Tahir Kayani, a government officer in a university proposed that pensions should also be increased by equal ratio to that of the salaries.
