HYDERABAD, Apr 16 (APP):The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro has formally inaugurated its first ever modern electric bus service, marking a significant and historic development on campus. The project was officially launched by the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said that the initiative is not merely a transport facility but a major relief for students and a strong step toward a modern and environmentally friendly university system. He emphasized that the administration aims to provide safe, efficient and free transportation within the campus so that students can focus entirely on their academic activities.
He further stated that the university is continuously taking measures for student welfare, and the introduction of electric buses is part of this ongoing effort. According to him, the service will not only reduce the financial burden on students but also contribute to a cleaner environment and improved traffic management within the campus. “Our vision is to transform LUMHS into a modern, well-equipped institution that meets international standards,” he added.
According to the university’s media spokesperson, students welcomed the launch of the electric bus service, calling it a positive and revolutionary step in the university’s history. A student shared that previously, traveling between departments used to cost between Rs300 to Rs400 daily, causing financial strain. He added with the introduction of electric buses, not only will travel expenses be eliminated, but students will also benefit from safe and comfortable commuting.
Students appreciated the initiative as a clear reflection of the Vice Chancellor’s student friendly approach and practical measures. They also expressed hope that more such welfare oriented and innovative projects will be introduced in the future.
