PESHAWAR, Oct 07 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah has said that the livestock sector serves as the backbone of the province’s economy and the government is taking all necessary measures to achieve self-sufficiency in this vital field.
He expressed these views while addressing an awareness conference on animal welfare, organized by the Livestock Department on Tuesday in collaboration with private partners to mark World Animal Day.
The special event was jointly organized by Brooke Pakistan and other stakeholders, focusing on the welfare of horses, mules, and working animals.
Syed Qasim Ali Shah was the chief guest, while Samiullah Khan, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, attended as the guest of honor. The conference brought together experts, veterinary doctors, civil society representatives, and participants from various walks of life.
In his address, the minister emphasized that caring for animals is not only a moral and social responsibility but also closely linked to public health and the economy. He stated, “Timely vaccination and proper care of animals are essential for their health and welfare. These small yet important measures can lead to significant positive outcomes.”
He further said that the government, in partnership with the private sector, is encouraging initiatives that can enhance animal health, productivity, and overall welfare, thereby contributing to economic stability and sustainable development in the province.
