BAHAWALPUR, Oct 29 (APP):The Bahawalpur district administration has intensified its anti-dengue efforts to curb the spread of the virus across the city.
A review meeting on dengue prevention measures was held under the chairmanship of Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City, Khaleel Ahmed. The meeting reviewed the progress of the anti-dengue campaign, departmental performance, and sanitation arrangements in detail. The district administration announced strict action against any teams involved in fake or ineffective dengue control operations. Officials from all government departments were directed to ensure cleanliness within their premises and to take immediate action wherever dengue larvae are found. The administration also appealed to citizens to keep their homes, workplaces, and surrounding areas clean, avoid water stagnation, and fully cooperate with health department teams to effectively eliminate the threat of dengue.
Meanwhile, the District Health Authority Bahawalpur has continued vigorous field activities as part of the anti-dengue campaign. Vector surveillance, larva detection, and public awareness drives are being carried out consistently across all high-risk areas of the city. Divisional Director Health Services Bahawalpur, Dr. Syed Tanveer Hussain Shah, inspected various areas to monitor ongoing activities and appreciated the performance of the field teams. He stated that all departments are working together to eradicate dengue, and citizens’ cooperation is crucial to the success of the campaign. He urged residents to maintain cleanliness, prevent water accumulation, and extend full cooperation to health teams.
Chief Executive Officer District Health Authority Bahawalpur, Dr. Aamir Bashir, emphasized that citizens must strictly follow dengue SOPs, warning that violators will face fines and legal action. He added that collective responsibility and public cooperation are key to controlling the spread of dengue effectively. District Health Officer (Preventive Services), Dr. Muhammad Rana Arshad, said that immediate case responses are carried out upon detection of positive larvae or confirmed dengue patients. He instructed surveillance teams to revisit affected areas and ensure the complete elimination of larvae to prevent further spread of the virus. Deputy District Health Officer Headquarters also visited various localities to review the field teams’ performance, noting that teams are working efficiently and that strong public cooperation is vital to overcoming dengue risks.
