QUETTA, Jul 21 (APP):An important meeting was held between the Balochistan Education Department and the World Food Program (WFP) under the chairmanship of Balochistan Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani with the aim of making the ongoing nutrition program for students in schools more effective and coordinated.
The meeting was attended by Secretary School Education Asfandyar Khan and representatives of WFP.
During the meeting, the officials emphasized that the provision of balanced and nutritious food is indispensable for the physical and mental development of school children.
In this regard, various suggestions were considered and several important decisions were taken with the aim of making the implementation of the program transparent, organized and effective.
It was decided in the meeting that committees would be established at the district level for monitoring, which could effectively monitor the quality of food provided in schools, the distribution process and overall management.
Along with this, the Education Department and the World Food Program would also make a comprehensive implementation plan under a joint mechanism so that proper utilization of resources and timely achievement of targets can be made possible.
The meeting was informed that the Balochistan Education Department is also formulating a comprehensive strategy in this regard, under which all school students would be provided with food that could not only meet their physical needs but also have a positive impact on academic performance.
This strategy is also taking into account local needs and ground realities. In addition, the meeting also discussed the initial features of the School Health Screening Program. Under this program, measures would be suggested for timely identification of basic health problems of students and their redressal, so that children could get a safe, healthy and better educational environment.
On this occasion, the officials of the Education Department reiterated their commitment that with the cooperation of international partners, the achievement of the interrelated goals of child welfare, health and education would be ensured in the educational institutions of Balochistan, so that the new generation could become the foundation of a vibrant, conscious and educated society.
