Education clerk suspended over alleged corruption complaint

TANK, Sep 10 (APP):The district administration Tank has suspended a clerk of the Education Department following a complaint alleging financial irregularities and corruption at the department and its accounts office.
The action was taken during a public hearing on education held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where a citizen raised allegations concerning alleged irregularities in official matters. Deputy Commissioner Tank ordered the immediate suspension of clerk Salman in response to the complaint.
The action has, however, prompted calls from local citizens for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations, including the alleged role of other officials and personnel of the accounts office mentioned in the complaint.
Citizens said the suspension of the clerk should be treated as an initial administrative action and should not bring the matter to an end if other officials are also found to have a role in the alleged irregularities.
They called for an impartial inquiry, examination of relevant official records and verification of the financial transactions involved to establish the facts and determine responsibility on the basis of evidence.
The citizens said officials found uninvolved should be cleared, while those found responsible should face action in accordance with law, stressing that accountability should be based on evidence rather than rank or position.
