FAISALABAD, Nov 25 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Sohail Qadir Cheema announced that the Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant in Faisalabad is the only project of its kind in Punjab, designed to treat 33 million gallons of sewage daily and make it suitable for agricultural use.
Developed with Danish assistance, the project aims to improve irrigation supply and support environmental protection, he added.
During his visit to the project site, accompanied by Project Director Kamran Raza Kahloon, the MD WASA inspected ongoing construction work and reviewed the progress on various components of the plant.
Cheema highlighted the project’s immense significance, noting that it would not only provide farmers with a reliable supply of treated water but also help reduce environmental and air pollution, offering relief to citizens.
He emphasized that WASA is prioritizing the timely completion of the project, given its far-reaching benefits for both Faisalabad’s urban and agricultural sectors. The MD directed the contractor staff to continue construction strictly according to the prescribed timeline, stressing that adherence to deadlines is crucial to meeting the environmental and service-delivery goals of the initiative.
