FAISALABAD, Oct 15 (APP): The experts have stressed the need for early intervention, awareness campaigns and counseling services to create supportive environment that nurture mental and emotional wellbeing.
They were addressing a seminar titled “Mental Health Awareness: Promoting Wellbeing through Knowledge and Care” organized by National Institute of Food Sciences and Technology (NIFST) at University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).
Speaking on the occasion, mental health expert Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmed Dogar emphasized that mental health is as important as physical health for the normal functioning of life. He said that individuals often overlook their emotional and psychological wellbeing, which can lead to various behavioral and social issues. He stressed that counseling plays a pivotal role in promoting mental wellness, as it helps individuals manage stress, anxiety and depression effectively. He said that food, adequate sleep, strong family bonding and a healthy environment are key proactive factors that contribute to maintaining good mental health.
Director General NIFST Prof Dr Muhammad Issa Khan said that growing stress in academic and professional life makes it essential to adopt preventive measures for mental health. He encouraged the students to practice self-care, maintain a balanced routine and seek timely counseling whenever needed.
Director Institute of Home Sciences Dr Beenish Israr said that awareness about mental health must begin at the institutional level, where students and faculty can openly discuss emotional challenges. She appreciated NIFST efforts to highlight complex psychological problems which are prevailing in society.
Dr Ahmad Din said that maintaining mental wellbeing is crucial for personal and professional growth.
Maryam Jalal said that awareness about mental health is essential for building a productive and positive society where individuals can perform at their best.
