DSP, ASI among six policemen injured in attack on police party in DIKhan
Dera Ismail Khan , Aug 29 (APP):Six policemen, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a woman constable, were injured when suspected terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij attacked a police party near Amin Farm on Dera-Hathala Road in Dera Ismail Khan district, police said on Saturday.
According to police, the attack took place when a police party, headed by DSP Kulachi Kifayatullah and Station House Officer (SHO) Kalachi Sher Afzal Khan, was proceeding to conduct a raid in the area.
The attackers opened indiscriminate fire on the police party near Amin Farm. During the firing, the police mobile carrying DSP Kifayatullah reportedly went off the road and overturned, resulting in injuries to several police personnel.
The injured were identified as ASI Nauman Qasuria, Constable Qasim, DSP Kifayatullah’s gunman Ghulam Saeed, Hashim and woman Constable Amber Altaish, while the DSP was also injured in the incident.
Police personnel returned fire effectively, forcing the attackers to flee from the scene, the police said.
Soon after the incident, a heavy contingent of police and other law-enforcement agencies reached the area and launched a search operation to trace the fleeing attackers. Security personnel cordoned off the area and initiated efforts to locate those involved in the attack.
The injured police officials and personnel were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan, for medical treatment, where they were provided necessary medical care.
Later, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghulam Mubashir Maken and District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ziauddin Ahmed visited the DHQ Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured police officers and personnel.
The senior police officers met the injured officials and personnel, inquired about their health and appreciated their courage and determination while performing their duties in the face of the terrorist attack.
On the occasion, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken also provided financial assistance to the injured police officers and personnel.
The RPO obtained detailed information from the doctors present at the hospital about the condition of the injured personnel, their treatment and the medical facilities being provided to them. He directed the hospital administration to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment and facilities to the injured policemen.
Speaking on the occasion, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken said police officers and personnel were performing their duties on the frontline in the war against terrorism without caring for their lives.
He paid tribute to their courage, spirit and sacrifices, saying that the resolve of the police force against terrorism remained unwavering.
He said all available resources were being utilized to frustrate the nefarious designs of elements hostile to peace, adding that police would continue taking every possible measure to protect the lives and property of citizens.
The RPO and DPO also prayed for the early and complete recovery of the injured officers and personnel and appreciated their high morale.
They assured the injured policemen that the police department stood firmly by them and would continue extending all possible support for their treatment, welfare and rehabilitation.
The Dera Ismail Khan police reiterated their resolve to continue performing their duties with courage, determination and professional commitment in the fight against terrorism and for the maintenance of peace and security in the district.
