RAWALPINDI, Jun 22 (APP):A local court has sentenced a drug supplier to nine years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs. 80,000

According to the details, the convict, identified as Saqib, was arrested by Gujjar Khan Police in September last year and 1.6 kilograms of charas was recovered from his possession.

A police spokesman said that the court awarded the sentence on the basis of solid evidence and effective follow-up of the case by the investigation and legal teams.

City Police Officer, Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani appreciated the performance of investigation team lead by Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation and the and legal teams for ensuring the conviction.

He said strict measures would be taken to eliminate the menace of drugs from society.

Efforts would continue to bring drug traffickers to justice and ensure a safer environment for citizens, said the spokesman.
