Drug peddler sentenced to 9 years imprisonment

WAH CANTONMENT, Nov 7 (APP): A special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Taxila sentenced a drug peddler to nine years’ imprisonment on Friday.
According to APP correspondent, the convict, identified as Fazal Rabbi, was found guilty of selling drugs after a trial at the special court.
According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested by Taxila Police on January 2 this year, after recovering 1.54 kilograms of hashish from his custody.
The public prosecutor had argued that the accused was caught red-handed while smuggling contraband, and the evidence on record fully connected him with the commission of the offense.
The court found Fazal Rabbi guilty of selling drugs under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997.
The court awarded Fazal Rabbi nine years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 80,000. In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused will have to face an additional six months in jail.
