FAISALABAD, Jan 12 (APP):The administration has decided to hand over 100 parks of the city to the community,
for which the legal framework is being finalized.
According to official sources here Monday, each park will have a management committee
that will maintain and supervise the park.
In addition, the Horticulture Agency, Faisalabad will also provide a “business plan” within 15 days to
increase its resources and improve the condition of the parks.
This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar.
The meeting was informed that there are a total 355 public parks in the city being maintained
by the Horticulture Agency.
The citizens are being provided with free recreational facilities and due to lack of resources, Agency is facing financial constraints in fully equipping the parks.
However, the Horticulture Agency has activated lights, upgraded green areas, functioning of motor pumps and ensured walking tracks in more than 30 parks in the last one and a half months.
The commissioner said that the goal of maintaining parks can be achieved only by involving the community.
For this purpose, it has been decided to hand over initially 100 small and large parks to the community in the first phase.
