District wheat committee reviews cultivation plan

GUJRAT, Oct 07 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi chaired a meeting of the District Wheat Committee at the DC Complex to review preparations for the upcoming wheat cultivation season.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Afzal Hayat Tarar, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Muhammad Athar Latif, assistant commissioners from all tehsils, and representatives from the Irrigation Department, fertilizer and seed companies, and the farming community.
The Deputy Director briefed the committee on cultivation targets, availability of seed and fertilizer, irrigation management, and related administrative measures.
DC Qureshi directed officials to ensure the timely provision of certified seed, fertilizer, and canal water. She emphasized the need for interdepartmental coordination and farmer training to meet production goals.
The district’s cultivation target is set at 389,000 acres—208,000 acres in Gujrat, 148,000 in Kharian, and 33,000 in Sara-i-Alamgir.
