DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jun 26 (APP):In an effort to foster democratic values among the younger generation, the District Election Commission Office, Dera Ismail Khan, organized an informative voter awareness session at the Apex Institute of Medical Sciences.
The event drew participation from nearly 100 students, who were introduced to the importance of voting, the foundational principles of democracy, and the vital role that young people play in shaping the future of the nation.
Abdul Rauf Khan, District Election Commissioner, addressed the gathering and underscored the power of a single vote. “Democracy thrives when citizens actively engage in the electoral process,” he said. “Every vote counts, and it has the potential to determine the direction of the country.” He encouraged students to view voting not just as a right, but as a national responsibility.
The session also offered practical information, including how to register as a voter, the significance of having a valid CNIC, and methods for verifying one’s name in the voter list. A lively question-and-answer segment followed, where students raised thoughtful queries, reflecting their interest and awareness.
Such initiatives aim to cultivate a sense of civic duty among youth, empowering them to participate meaningfully in democratic processes and contribute to positive change in society.
