KARACHI, Oct 31 (APP):The District Central Police claimed to have arrested 30 alleged street criminals and recovered weapons and stolen valuables during 20 reported police encounters over the past month.
Talking to APP on Friday, SSP Central Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui told that police intensified operations against street crimes in October, resulting in the killing of two suspects and the arrest of 24 others in injured condition during separate encounters. Police recovered 24 pistols, 53 rounds, and snatched mobile phones from the suspects, he said.
He said the encounters took place in New Karachi Industrial Area, Bilal Colony, Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan, Azizabad, Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, Gulberg, Sharifabad and New Karachi.
Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals and further investigation has been handed over to the concerned authorities, the SSP added.
