District admin crack down on poultry price gouging in Attock

ATTOCK, Jul 29 (APP):The district administration on Monday launched a crackdown on shopkeepers and poultry dealers who have been selling poultry items at exorbitant rates in violation of the official price list in Attock.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner General Attock, Anil Saeed the operation was initiated on the directives of the Member Provincial Assembly and Chairperson of the Task Force on Price Control, Salima Butt.
As part of the crackdown, 37 price control magistrates carried out more than 350 surprise visits to various markets across the district’s six tehsils (sub-districts).
During these visits, the authorities imposed fines totaling over Rs 0.1 million on those found violating the official price list. Furthermore, six shopkeepers were arrested and sent to jail for illegal profiteering.
The official stated that the Punjab government and the district administration are closely monitoring the ongoing operation to bring the prices of chicken under control.
He emphasized that the crackdown will continue until the desired goals are achieved.
