DIG Tariq reviews Eid security, crime prevention measures

ISLAMABAD, Jun 03 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG)  Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, chaired a high-level meeting to review security arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha and devise a strategy to curb crime during the festive season.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the meeting was attended by SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, SP Dolphin, SP ARF, and all Station House Officers (SHOs) of Islamabad.
DIG Tariq said special security arrangements would be ensured for shopping centers and public gatherings on Chand Raat and Eid days, directing officers to enhance visible police presence through foot patrols, mobile vehicles, and motorcycle squads.
DIG Tariq said all patrolling units should operate effectively and with clear objectives to deter criminal activity, while security at entry and exit points of the capital must be tightened further.
DIG Tariq said a strict crackdown would be launched against aerial firing, rowdy behavior, and one-wheeling to ensure public safety during Eid celebrations.
DIG Tariq said special police squads would be deployed at public parks and other recreational sites to prevent any untoward incidents.
DIG Tariq said strong security should be provided to both citizens and traders in the cattle markets, adding that smooth traffic flow around these markets must be maintained.
DIG said police must focus on apprehending hardened criminals, including proclaimed offenders and those with previous criminal records.
DIG Tariq said all available resources should be utilized to curb crime, reaffirming that protection of citizens’ life and property remains Islamabad Police’s top priority./APP-rzr-mkz
