LAHORE, Oct 16 (APP): On the occasion of World Food Day 2025, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Muhammad Asim Javed in his message to the public, calling for a collective commitment to securing wholesome and healthy food across the province.
Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Muhammad Asim Javed has called for a collective commitment to securing wholesome and healthy food across the province on the eve of World Food Day 2025.
He said, “Food is not just a means to fill the stomach; it is the vital ladder to the health, improved growth and development of our future generations.” He highlighted the theme for World Food Day 2025, stressing that “Food safety is a national and collective responsibility.”
PFA DG said that the PFA is tirelessly working on three strategic missions launched under the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab. He said that we are arrayed against nutritional terrorism, food fraud, negligence and apathy. ?To fulfill its mandate of providing nutritious food, the PFA is currently implementing advanced reforms across its legal framework and inspection systems, he said.
Furthermore, pro-people policies are being enforced to foster innovation and welfare within the food industry.
The DG warned that the increasing trend of fast food consumption has become a significant threat to the health of the younger generation. He stressed the importance of reducing the intake of junk food alongside ensuring the availability of nutritious items for children and young adults.
The Punjab Food Authority is actively addressing this need through public awareness campaigns and training programs aimed at educating citizens on the importance of nutritious eating. The PFA remains constantly active in the field to ensure the continuous supply of safe food to the people of Punjab, DG PFA said.
