QUETTA, Jul 17 (APP):On the directive of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Jahanzeb Khan the Relief Commissioner and Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan conducted a comprehensive visit to several districts, including Killa Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, and Loralai.
Accompanied by Commissioner of Zhob Division Tariq ur Rehman, the DG PDMA’s visit focused on assessing the most vulnerable communities within these districts, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The statement read that Deputy Commissioners guided the DG through the critical areas, briefing him on the local challenges and the conditions of the sites.
A key part of the visit involved discussions on the district-level monsoon contingency plans. The DG PDMA provided directives to the Deputy Commissioners to ensure preparedness and effective response to potential monsoon-related disasters.
One significant visit was at the landslide-affected area on the N-50 National Highway in Danasar, District Sherani. Here, the DG PDMA, along with the Deputy Commissioner, evaluated the ongoing efforts of the Levies force and National Highway Authority (NHA) teams. He commended their prompt response to the landslide incident.
Additionally, the DG PDMA visited the earthquake-affected area of Dargai Eshpalo in Tehsil Makhiter, District Loralai. He inspected the damaged infrastructure and properties, and distributed relief goods to the affected residents. Immediate directives were issued to the Deputy Commissioner of Loralai to ensure the swift provision of additional relief goods to those in need.
This visit underscores the commitment of the Balochistan government to address and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the necessary support and resources promptly.
