Dengue cases rise to 994,  polio campaign touches 28% on day 1st

RAWALPINDI, Oct 14 (APP):A total of 994 confirmed cases for the year so far, have been reported, as per the latest health data.
Hospitals across Rawalpindi have screened 14,744 patients for dengue symptoms throughout the year of which, 994 cases have been confirmed, including 22 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
The data released by the District Health Authority (DHA), currently, 56 confirmed patients are admitted for treatment, but the district reports zero deaths.
“Our hospital-based monitoring ensures timely detection and care,” said DHA Spokesman, Dr. Waqar while highlighting the importance of community awareness in curbing transmission.
A total of 1,361 teams have been deployed since which have inspected 5,723,535 houses and detected 1,81,234 positive houses with potential breeding sites.
Moreover, they checked 1,584,783 spots, such as water containers and drains, and have identified identifying 24,514 positive locations and destroying a total of 205,748 larvae.
As of the updated data, 4,509 FIRs have been filed, 1,858 premises sealed, 3,521 challans issued and fines totaling Rs. 10.986 million have been imposed for larva detection and SOP breaches.
In a parallel move of polio drops drive, the day 1 performance summary shows out of the targeted 989,924 children, the drive reached 272,696, achieving 28% coverage. The polio teams have reached out to 2,07,427 houses attaining an 88% rate.
“This high household penetration signals strong team access and operational readiness,” Says Dr. Waqar.
He said that total of 54,343 missed children were recorded with 28,628 covered on the first day of the drive which makes 53%  success regarding the missed cases.
During the out-of-house (OOH) strategic drive,  76,656 children in total were vaccinated.
