RAWALPINDI, Nov 06 (APP):Rawalpindi district has recorded a significant drop in dengue infection rates, registering 91 confirmed cases through November 5, compared to 1,586 cases during the corresponding period last year.
The statistics were presented during a meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee (DERC), chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Fazail Mudassar on Friday.
Briefing the committee, health officials reported that field surveillance teams conducted checks across nearly 5.9 million households and over 2 million outdoor sites, detecting dengue larvae at over 243,000 locations. Out of 4,676 high-risk larva sites requiring immediate containment, vector control teams have completed response operations at 4,622 locations, with actions underway at the remaining 54 sites.
Fazail Mudassar directed health teams and municipal departments to maintain high-alert hotspot surveillance, accelerate vector elimination around positive sites, and intensify public awareness campaigns to keep seasonal breeding under control.
