KARACHI, Sep 15 (APP):Speaker of Provincial Assembly (PA) of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, on the occasion of International Day of Democracy said that democracy is necessary and vital for addressing public issues and tackling longstanding challenges.
The Speaker said that strong democratic institutions are the foundation of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Pakistan.
He said that the true strength of democracy lies in public trust, participation and active engagement with the public.
Strengthening the Constitution, democratic values and parliamentary institutions is our collective responsibility, he said, adding that democracy is our system that ensures the exercise of power remains accountable to the people.
He said that in a democratic system, respect for the rights and voice of minorities, alongside the majority, is equally essential.
Shah said that public opinion, participation and representation are the fundamental pillars of democracy.
He said that effective and strong democratic institutions are essential for Pakistan’s stability, progress and development.
