PESHAWAR, Dec 06 (APP): A six-member delegation of the Pakistan Cycling Federation led by Federation President Syed Azhar Ali Shah, called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House Peshawar on Saturday.
The delegation briefed the Governor on the issues faced by cyclists in Peshawar and across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including lack of facilities, absence of safe cycling tracks and the need to improve the training system.
They also paid tribute to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for organizing the first KP Governor Sports Awards, terming it a commendable initiative for the promotion of sports.
The delegation emphasized that the highest number of medals in the Olympic Games are awarded in cycling events, therefore underlining the need for proper patronage and modern development of the sport in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi described cycling as a safe, healthy and globally popular sport and assured that all possible support would be provided to promote cycling in the province. He reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to creating better infrastructure and opportunities for cyclists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, the delegation of the Nursing Community students of Kohat University of Science and Technology called on Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
The delegation included Nursing Community President Asim Wazir, General Secretary Sajawal Fawad, Vice President Hazratullah and Chairman Ameenullah. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on nursing education, opportunities for practical training, the role of youth in the health sector and professional development.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the services, commitment and interest of the students in the health sector and said that strengthening the nursing profession in line with modern-day requirements is a priority of the government.
He assured the delegation of his full support in resolving the issues faced by nursing students at Kohat University of Science and Technology.
