HYDERABAD, Nov 07 (APP):District Election Commissioner’s Office Shaheed Benazirabad organized a mock polling exercise and a quiz competition at Bakhtawar Cadet College for Girls, Shaheed Benazirabad. The event aimed to educate students about the electoral process, voting procedures and the importance of their role as future voters.
District Election Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Majeedano and his team guided the participants through various stages of the election process, including voter registration, issuance of ballot papers, casting of votes, maintaining secrecy, vote counting, and announcement of results.
A mock polling station was set up with active participation from students who performed the roles of Presiding Officer, Assistant Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, and voters, providing them with a hands-on experience of a real election environment.
On the occasion, Regional Election Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Muhammad Yousuf Siddiqui, graced the event as chief guest. In his address, REC said that such activities help young voters gain a better understanding of their constitutional right to vote. He said that under the special directives of Election Commission of Pakistan, similar exercises are being held in various universities and colleges across Shaheed Benazirabad Division to raise awareness among youth about the electoral process.
Principal Bakhtawar Cadet College, Dr. Fareeda Shaikh, appreciated the initiative of the District Election Commissioner’s Office, stating that the activity proved highly informative and beneficial for the students, fostering trust in democratic institutions and encouraging active participation in the country’s future electoral processes. Awareness materials and informative pamphlets were distributed by the Election Commission and certificates and shields were awarded to cadets who secured top positions in the quiz competition.
