ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have intensified action against deadly kite flying and selling, arresting 54 people and seizing more than 21,000 kites and chemical strings during the ongoing month in the federal capital.
A police spokesperson told APP on Sunday that Islamabad Police teams carried out effective operations in different areas against kite flyers and sellers, resulting in the arrest of 54 accused involved in kite flying and trading.
He said that during these operations, police recovered over 11,000 kites and more than 10,000 chemical strings, along with charkhis and other related material, from the possession of the arrested suspects.

Cases have been registered against the accused at various police stations, and further investigation is underway.
SSP Qazi Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said that kite flying is not a harmless pastime but a deadly activity that has claimed innocent lives and caused serious injuries, particularly to motorcyclists, pedestrians and children.
He warned that chemical string poses a grave threat to human life and can result in permanent disability or death. He urged parents to educate their children about the dangers and legal consequences of kite flying and play their role as responsible citizens.
The SSP Qazi added that awareness announcements regarding the hazards of kite flying and selling have also been made in mosques across the district to sensitize the public.
He reiterated that Islamabad Police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against kite flying, kite selling and the use of chemical string, and strict legal action will continue against those involved in this dangerous practice.
The spokesperson said that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Islamabad Police, and no one will be allowed to put public safety at risk.
Citizens have been urged to report any incidents of kite flying or selling to the nearest police station or through the emergency helpline Pucar-15 so that timely action can be taken.
