PESHAWAR, Oct 23 (APP): In connection with World Polio Day, an awareness session for faculty and students was held here at Islamia College University to highlight the importance of eradicating polio, social responsibility, and ongoing efforts at government and district levels.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Sanaullah Khan attended the session as chief guest. Addressing the participants, he said that polio eradication is a national duty, and all institutions are working tirelessly to make Pakistan a polio-free country.
He said polio is not just a disease but a test of social responsibility, and every citizen must play an active role in its elimination.
The DC emphasized that educational institutions, teachers, and students are the most effective agents of awareness and can act as true social ambassadors in the fight against polio.
He urged parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that every child receives polio drops during each campaign.
Speakers at the event highlighted the significance, achievements, and challenges of the ongoing anti-polio drive.
DC appreciated the efforts of the faculty, speakers, and students, stating that public awareness is the key to complete eradication of polio.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of honorary shields among guests and speakers.
