DC says measures taken to ensure public safety

SARGODHA, Jul 17 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Captain (retd) Muhammad Wasim on Thursday said that the district administration was taking proactive measures to ensure public safety and minimise the impact of potential flooding.
He said this while presiding over a joint meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and District Emergency Board here. The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Police Officer Muhammad Suhaib Ashraf, and representatives from various departments.
The meeting was informed that the water level in the Jhelum River at Rasul Barrage is currently at a medium flood stage, with a flow of 127,000 cusecs expected to pass through Sargodha in the next 2 hours and Sahiwal  in 12 hours.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to relocate citizens and livestock to safe areas near the river and establish relief camps in the three tehsils.
He also directed that Rescue 1122 units may on high alert, and medical teams, machinery, and essential supplies are being mobilized to respond to any emergency situation.
