SIALKOT, Oct 20 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali chaired a key meeting to review environmental protection measures and develop a comprehensive strategy to combat smog in the district.
According to a spokesperson from the DC office, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Sialkot Solid Waste Management Company and related institutions to ensure that no garbage or crop residues are burned. She warned that strict action would be taken against any violations of these instructions.
She further stated that the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) would be monitored daily to effectively control air pollution. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed authorities to prevent smoke-emitting vehicles from operating on the roads and to enforce safety measures during the transportation of construction materials to reduce dust and debris.
DC Saba Asghar Ali emphasized that all ongoing construction projects must strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to minimize dust and environmental pollution during construction activities.
The meeting was attended by Administrator Municipal Corporation Abbas Zulqarnain, Assistant Commissioner Sambrial Ghulam Fatima Bandial, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Zubair Wattoo, Managing Director Solid Waste Management Company Kashif Nawaz, Secretary RTA Muzafar Hayat, and Environmental Inspectors Shahid Dogar and Ahmad Yar.
