DC Quetta directs to utilize resources for success of anti-polio drive

QUETTA, Jul 25 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Quetta Captain (R) Mehrullah Badini on Friday directed all the concerned agencies to utilize all available resources for the success of the anti-polio campaign.
He said this while chairing a meeting regarding preparations for the anti-polio campaign.
The meeting reviewed the preparations for the campaign, ongoing measures against polio and the environmental surveillance system in detail.
During the meeting, the DC was briefed that a polio campaign would be launched in 39 union councils of Quetta under the fIPV + OPV “Readiness Campaign”.
During this campaign, 3,53,950 children aged 0 to 59 months would be given OPV while 3,36,229 children aged 4 to 59 months would be given fIPV vaccine.
The results of environmental surveillance conducted at various places during the year 2024-2025 were also presented in the meeting,
According to which the presence of polio virus (WPV1) has been identified at some places. In this regard, emphasis was laid on adopting immediate and effective strategies.
A detailed map was also presented to identify high-risk areas to make the campaign more effective and ensure that every child is reached.
The DC directed all the concerned agencies to utilize all available resources for the success of the anti-polio campaign.
He stressed that an effective campaign should be launched to make parents aware of the importance of polio vaccine.
The DC said that foolproof security would be provided during the campaign so that the teams could carry out their work without fear or intimidation.
