LAYYAH, Dec 24 (APP):Anti-Corruption Department arrested a peon of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office for allegedly demanding and receiving bribe in return for providing employment.
According to officials, the Circle Office Anti-Corruption team apprehended Sher Ahmed alias Sheri red-handed while receiving Rs 300,000 from a citizen. The bribe money was recovered from his possession. A case was registered against the accused on the report of Muhammad Waqas, and further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, police of Thana Saddar Vehari arrested a former police volunteer for allegedly looting citizens while impersonating an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI). The accused, identified as Farooq, had already been barred from entering police premises due to past misconduct. He was booked under relevant sections of the law and sent to jail.
