HYDERABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review various ongoing health programs in the district. The meeting discussed the progress of the anti-polio campaign, the monthly review of the EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization), the District Surveillance Committee and the District Steering Committee regarding the MR and bOPV vaccination campaigns.
During the meeting, representatives of the health department gave a detailed briefing on program performance, coverage ratio, disease surveillance, reporting systems, field staff performance and logistic facilities.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousif Shaikh while appreciating the efforts of the health department stated that all concerned departments should work together to make the vaccination campaign completely successful. He said that ensuring vaccination for every child, preventing diseases and raising public awareness were top priorities of the district administration.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that measles is a contagious disease and the only protection against it was vaccination. He appealed to parents to act responsibly by vaccinating their children against this dangerous disease and to cooperate with the district administration. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Matiari Iqra Jannat, District Health Officer Asif Hussain Shah and officers from other relevant departments.
