DC for establishment of taluka fire safety audit Committees across all talukas of district

NAWABSHAH, Jan 30 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, has issued a notification for the establishment of Taluka Fire Safety Audit Committees across all talukas of the district for conducting fire safety audits of commercial buildings, shopping centers, plazas, and large public buildings. The committees have been constituted under the powers granted by Government of Sindh in accordance with Civil Defence (Special Powers) Rules, 1952, and the Pakistan Fire Safety Provisions, 2016.
According to the notification, the concerned Assistant Commissioner will serve as the Convener of the committee, while members will include Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Assistant Directors and Engineers of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), representatives from District Civil Defence, Fire Brigade Agency, and Rescue 1122. Fire Officers, firemen, and Emergency Medical Technicians from  respective talukas have also been included as members of the committee.
The Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the committee include conducting fire safety audits of all shopping centers, commercial and public buildings; reviewing fire safety arrangements; assessing compliance with safety SOPs related to electrical and gas connections; issuing immediate notices in case of violations; and ensuring corrective measures within the prescribed timeframe.
The committee will regularly compile fire safety audit reports and submit them through Deputy Commissioner to the relevant Commissioners. To ensure effective monitoring of fire safety measures, daily or periodic meetings will also be held. According to district administration, the initiative aims to ensure  protection of public life and property and to establish an effective and coordinated fire safety system to prevent potential fire incidents.
