DC expresses concern over child dying of food poisoning

LODHRAN, Jul 23 (APP):The District Peace Committee meeting, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Lubna Nazir and District Police Officer (DPO) Ali Bin Tariq, expressed deep concerns over a tragic incident involving food poisoning at a local seminary in Lodhran.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kahror Pakka Muhammad Asghar Iqbal, Civil Defence Officer Tahir Abbas Bhutta, and various religious and civil society representatives also attended the meeting.
The DC expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident in which 11 seminary students fell ill and one student lost his life after consuming food. She highlighted the responsibility of madrasa administrators to ensure that food provided to boarding students meets hygienic and nutritional standards. “It is imperative that seminary management regularly inspects food quality and preparation practices in accordance with health and safety regulations,” the deputy commissioner said. She directed members of the District Peace Committee to visit local seminaries, raise awareness among administrators, and highlight critical issues related to food hygiene to prevent such incidents in the future.
DPO Ali Bin Tariq, while addressing the committee, called the incident a “clear case of criminal negligence” and stated that a thorough investigation was underway. “The postmortem and lab reports will determine the cause, and those found responsible will face strict legal action,” he added.
The DC issued instructions for launching awareness and enforcement campaigns against underage driving, riding motorcycles without licenses, and failing to wear helmets.
Prominent religious scholars including Hafiz Muhammad Akram Kanju, Muhammad Raza Hussain Joiya, Syed Murtaza Shah, and Muhammad Abid Mangla addressed the session, calling for vigilance and community engagement. President District Bar Association Malik Allah Nawaz Chanar, Christian Peace Committee member Jacob Aftab, Tahir Javed Bhatti (President, Central Traders Association), Sheikh Saifuddin Saifi (Commission Agents’ Association), and industrialist Malik Habib Babar Khokhar also condemned the seminary incident and assured full support for public awareness efforts.
