DC emphasizes strengthening cleanliness system in Bahawalpur under Suthra Punjab

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 02 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza has stated that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, under the Suthra Punjab initiative, a coordinated and sustainable strategy will be adopted to further strengthen the cleanliness system in Bahawalpur.
He expressed these views during his visit to the office of the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC), where he reviewed the company’s performance under the Suthra Punjab Program. Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Khalil Ahmed and Executive Engineer Highway Department Farrukh Warraich were also present on the occasion. Chief Executive Officer Bahawalpur Waste Management Company, Muhammad Naeem Akhtar, briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the ongoing Suthra Punjab Program in the district, including the field operational mechanism, workforce capacity, attendance system, vehicle monitoring, and progress of the DREAMS Project.
The DC inspected various sections of the company, including the control room and help desk, and reviewed the system for timely resolution of public complaints. He directed BWMC officials to further enhance field monitoring and ensure that sanitation staff remain active at all times. He also instructed that all machinery should be kept in proper and fully functional condition. Syed Hassan Raza further directed that complete data regarding construction debris across the city be provided immediately to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and that prompt removal of debris be ensured. He emphasized that shopkeepers, residents and vendors must be instructed to keep waste bins, and strict action should be taken against those failing to comply. He called for intensified efforts to keep the city clean.
Earlier, CEO BWMC Muhammad Naeem Akhtar informed the meeting that the company’s operational vehicles are being monitored through a modern IT-based system. He added that cleanliness services in all five tehsils of Bahawalpur district are being fully monitored through the control room. He also stated that for prompt redressal of complaints, the helpline 1139 and the Chief Minister’s Portal are fully functional.
