HYDERABAD, Oct 22 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, has directed authorities to intensify crackdown against quack doctors and seize their medical equipment following the reporting of HIV/AIDS cases in the district.
Presiding over a meeting held at the Darbar Hall of DC Office regarding public health services, DC emphasized that no one would be allowed to play with the lives and health of the citizens.
He instructed Sindh Healthcare Commission teams to work jointly with the police and assistant commissioners to accelerate ongoing actions against unregistered doctors, laboratories, and medical centers.
DC further directed that during the operations, clinics, labs, and medical centers run by quacks should be sealed and all their equipment should be confiscated. He also instructed health department to take legal action against registered medical centers that fail to comply with health SOPs.
DC also directed Drug Inspector to inspect all medical stores and blood centers across the district to ensure the quality and validity of medicines and take strict action against those selling substandard or expired drugs. He ordered health officials to investigate the recently reported HIV/AIDS cases and submit a detailed report.
During the meeting, Sindh Healthcare Commission Focal Person Dr Maqsood Soomro informed that a joint operation with the health department is underway against quack doctors and illegal laboratories across the district.
He reported that FIRs have been lodged against 10 quack doctors, while 134 illegal clinics have been sealed including 77 in Nawabshah, 36 in Daur, 3 in Sakrand, and 18 in Qazi Ahmed town.
The meeting was attended by Director MCH Professor Dr Akbar Sial, Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Abrar Ali Shah, District Health Officer Dr Mudasir Hussain, PMS Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Yar Ali Jamali, DSP Abdul Hameed Jalbani, HIV/AIDS Focal Person Dr Riaz Shah, Assistant Commissioner Nawabshah Iqbal Ahmed Tuñio, Dr Ghulam Qadir Rajput and other officials from relevant departments.
